Wedding in Trujillo

In mid-January we went back to Trujillo for the wedding. Because we were coming Olga's friend. Gladys, made the trip to Peru from Venezuela. Olga, Gladys and her sister Clara had a great reunion together.

This is Gladys. She lives in Caracas and is a great fan of Hugo Chavez.

Trujillo has its beauty. I particularly liked its beautiful old window casements with original rejas (iron bars).
A Touch of Class

Before the wedding we went with Gladys to eat lunch in the restaurant of the father of the bride. His restaurant is in the building that was the home of Cesar Vallejo; perhaps the greatest Peruvian poet of the 20th century. We had yuca rellena (stuffed yucca) and estofado de cabrito (goat stew). These were the best-of-class.

The wedding reception was held at a local hacienda that raised caballos de paso. These are horses raised especially in Peru that have a short, quick step and even when moving very fast the rider is supposed to feel nothing but a smooth ride. The bride and groom arrived escorted by 6 horses and riders.

Part of the entertainment of the evening was a presentation by a friend of the bride, the national Marinera champion for woman and horse.

Inside the reception hall there was more dancing.
